Walter Lee Younger- Denzel Washington

I tried to find actors and actresses that sort of have the same personalities to the characters in the story, but I don't know or think that any actor went through what Walter did. I respect Denzel Washington and his works and remember him in the movie, Remember the Titans (movie setting: 1970's in a town that's desegregated). In that movie, he was a football coach and he had to work with with another coach and combine their teams together. The obstacle that was difficult at first to overcome was combining white and black football players together in one team. His dream (so was the other coach who's white) was to unite the team and prove everyone that had doubts about them that they were wrong and that they can do it. Walter dreams and wants to open up a liquor business, support his family, and prosper. He said in the play that he wants to take risks and wants to prove his family that have doubts that he can do it... Both instances were unheard of in that time and since Denzel acted in a role that's sort of similar, I think his performance as Walter will be believable as it was in Remember the Titans.

Pg.1041 Physical description- “He is a lean, intense young man in his middle thirties, inclined to quick nervous movements and erratic speech habits---and always in his voice there is a quality of indictment.”
Personality- Is a dreamer, he likes to dream a lot but his dreams are consuming him and is blind to the effects of how it’s hurting his family and himself.  Walter is also a risk taker, and his goals are to start a liquor business to make a good amount of profit to live a happier life with his family. He wants to be the head of the family and wants to have the resources to support his family in a comfortable lifestyle. (dreamer, risk taker, wants to be the head of the family, seems selfish)
pg.1069- (Mama uses some money to buy a house and gave Walter the rest of the money ($6,500) and specifically instructed him to put $3,000 in Beneatha's bank for her education and the rest is his) Walter: "Mama . . . I never . . . went to the bank at all . . .
