Bobo-Alfonso Ribeiro

Bobo was mentioned in the beginning of the play, but we got to meet him mostly towards the end of the play and we find out that Bobo and Walter's friend Willy took off with their money (including the $3,500 Mama gave to Walter). He was described as a slight little man and the best person I can think of that can portray Bobo is the actor the played Carlton in the Fresh Prince of Bel-air.
Bobo-Alfonso Ribeiro
Pg.1066 Physical description- “A very slight little man in a not too prosperous business suit and with haunted frightened eyes and a hat pulled down tightly, brim up, around his forehead.”

Karl Lindner- Thomas Gibson

George Murchinson- Jaleel White

Jaleel White is famously remembered by his role as "Steve Urkel" in Family Matters. In the show he can pull off many different personalities, and one personality in the show that would match Geroge's appearance is Stefan Urquelle, like George he's very rich and wears nice clothes. The difference between the two is that Stefan is well-mannered and respectful, Jaleel has the ability to act out different personalities really well and definitely has the experience of acting to look like a rich person pretty well.

Pg.1059 Physical Description “[He wears] casual tweed sports jacket over cashmere V-neck sweater over soft eyelet shirt and tie, and soft slacks, finished off with white buckskin shoes)”.
Personality: Shallow
Pg. 1048 (Beneatha) “Oh, I just mean I couldn’t ever really be serious about George. He’s---he’s so shallow.”
Pg. 1057 (to Beneatha) “Let’s face it, baby, your heritage is nothing but a bunch of raggedy-assed spirituals and some grass huts!”

Joseph Asagai-Don Cheadle

Don Cheadle worked on a movie called Hotel Rwanda that was about genocide and "In 2010, Cheadle was named U.N. Environment Program Goodwill Ambassador" (Wikipedia). He co-authored a book about ending genocide and genocide is one of the problems that is prevalent in some parts of Africa. Joseph wants to go back to his country and improve the conditions concerning health, education, and etc. Don's experience working in the movie Hotel Rwanda, and his personal beliefs go hand in hand in the role for Joseph Asagai.

Pg.1051 Physical description- “Dramatic-looking young man”
Personality- He’s respectful, knowledgeable, kind-hearted, and caring.
Pg. 1052 (explaining to Beneatha his nickname for her and its meaning) “(Thinking.)  It means… it means One for Whom Bread--- Food Is Not Enough.
Pg. 1071(to Beneatha) "What you just said--about the circle. It isn't a circle-- it is simply a long line-- as in geometry, you know, one that reaches into infinity. and because we cannot see the end-- we also cannot see how it changes. and it is very odd but those who see the changes--who dream, who will not give up-- are called idealists . . . and those who see only the circle-- we call them the "realists"! . . . I LIVE THE ANSWER! (Pause.) In my village at home it is the exceptional man who can even read a newspaper . . . or who ever sees a book at all. I will go home and much of what I will have to say will seem strange to the people of my village. But I will teach and work and things will happen, slowly and swiftly. At times it will seem that nothing changes at all . . . and then again the sudden dramatic events which make history leap into the future. And then quiet again. Retrogression even. Guns, murder, revolution. And I even will have moments when I wonder if the quiet was not better than all that death and hatred. But I will look about my village at the illiteracy and disease and ignorance and I will not wonder long. and perhaps . . . perhaps I will be a great man . . . I mean perhaps I will hold on to the substance of truth and find my way always with the right course . . . and perhaps for it I will be butchered in my bed some night by the servants of empire. . .

Lena Younger (Mama) - Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is 57, has black hair, and looks pretty good for her age. Mama is in her early sixties and has white hair. I believe Oprah Winfrey would be the perfect actress to play Mama (hair and makeup can make her appear more like Mama in the play). Both women are strong and overcome obstacles in their lives and are very wise and loving towards others. Oprah helped hundreds, thousands, and maybe more with her generosity and tender care. Mama is the same way with her family, though I think she's a bit more aggressive in a good way. This is a good opportunity for Oprah to acquire her tough love aggressiveness by acting as Mama.

Pg.1045 Physical description- “She is a woman in her early sixties, full-bodied and strong. She is one of those women of a certain grace and beauty who wear it so unobtrusively that it takes a while to notice. Her dark brown face is surrounded by the total whiteness of her hair, and, being a woman who has adjusted to many things in life and overcome many more, her face is full of strength. She has, we can see, wit and faith of a kind that keeps her eyes lit and full of interest and expectancy. She is, in a word, a beautiful woman. ”
Personality- She is family oriented, strong-willed, strong in faith, loving, caring, and considerate.
Pg.1046- Telling Ruth what she wants to do with the $, “some of it got to be put away for Beneatha and her schoolin’… been thinking that we maybe could meet the notes on a little old two-story somewhere, with a yard where Travis could play in the summertime…”
